“Marching in the Street” was the first protest song I (Paula Kirman) ever wrote, back in 2007. It talks about poverty and housing, the environment, and peace. During these days of quarantine and lockdown when activist communities are not as able to get together, I was missing my friends and community. So, I put together this video featuring a variety of protests from the around 1,000 I’ve attended/photographed/co-organized over the past 15 years. I tried to choose photos that matched the lyrics. I re-recorded the song at my home studio to give it a modern sound and groove. Hope you enjoy. And, when we can be together again, I look forward to marching in the street.
