From the Ground Up: Season Two

From the Ground Up is a community access television program for Shaw TV highlighting activists and activism in Edmonton. Here is an archive of the program. Please note that the quality of some of the episodes below had to be lowered in order to have a file size suitable for uploading to YouTube. Also, there may be some differences between the online and broadcast versions of the show.

Season 2, Episode 18

Jumah (Friday) prayers from the Muslim community for victims of violence and all humanity. People’s Climate March Edmonton calls for a sustainable lifestyle. A song about the tar sands and its effects on communities downstream. The Edmonton Coalition Against War and Racism (ECAWAR) pickets to welcome refugees to Canada and against military action in Syria. With theme music by Bill Bourne and Trancescapes.

Season 2, Episode 14

Edmonton Welcomes Refugees rally in the wake of the Syrian refugee crisis. A picket to encourage voters to vote against Stephen Harper in the upcoming federal election. The annual UN International Day of Peace flag-raising ceremony at City Hall.
